Fishers and Paykel Forma™ Full Face CPAP or BiPAP Mask

Forma™ Full Face CPAP or BiPAP Mask

The Fishers and Paykel Forma™ Full Face CPAP or BiPAP Mask is made for the consumer that breathes in and out through their nose and/ or mouth during the use of a CPAP or BiPAP machine while treating Sleep Apnea. Obstructive Sleep Apnea occurs at the beginning of the inhalation and some customers find their pressures to be at a point where they need to use either their nose or mouth or both to handle the pressures being provided by the CPAP or BiPAP machine. The Full Face CPAP or BiPAP Mask is a great solution for the customer that this scenario happens to because the customer has the ability to still receive ample amount of CPAP or BiPAP Pressure the keep the airway open.

The Fishers and Paykel Forma™ Full Face Mask is designed to fit the customer from the bridge of the nose to under the chin. The lower part of the mask will actually rest under the consumer's chin so that if you experience your chin dropping during the night due to it relaxing, the mask will still hold its seal. This feature eliminates the need for a chinstrap as some people will still need a chinstrap added with some of the other manufacturer's Full Face CPAP or BiPAP Masks.

The Forma™ Full Face also has an excellent feature known as Glider™ Straps that will allow the person wearing the CPAP Mask to move freely during their sleep. This reason for the freedom of movement is that the Glider™ Straps slide along grooves at the front of the mask so that when your headgear or headstrap is caught between your head and pillow and you move your face, the mask still moves with you and doesn't cause your mask to leak! This technology has been found to be very effective as many Sleep Apnea sufferers still move or shuffle during their sleep even with the use of CPAP or BiPAP. How many times do you move in your sleep and your mask doesn't move with you causing a major leak and wakes you up? The Glider™ Straps helps reduce that possibility!

The Forma™ is available in 4 ways:

Fishers and Paykel Stretchgear™ Headgear

The Forma™ Stretchgear™ Headgear is designed specifically for the Fishers and paykel Forma™ Full Face Mask and should not be used with any other Full Face Mask. The Headgear has straps that will go along the side of your head just above your eye line around the back of your head. It will also contain straps that will go from your lower jaw line below your ears and around the back of your head. There is also a strap that goes above the top of your head to ensure the mask stays secure to your face and it a proper position. It is important that your headgear is full on the back of your head, a strap goes over the top of your head and overall is not crunched together on the back of your head! If the headgear is not worn properly, it can affect the seal of your mask and may be worn incorrectly.

The headgear attaches in 4 areas. Two parts of the headgear are attached to the forehead part of the mask and can be easily removed without unstrapping the headgear. The other 2 spots are on the Glider™ Strap, one side has a Quick Release clip that will allow you to wuickly release the headgear from the mask for immdeiate removal of the mask from your face and the other has a feature that will allow you to also remove the headgear without unstrapping the headgear. This feature of removing the headgear from the contact points of the mask with unstrapping the headgear is an excellent feature because you do not have to constantly fit your mask every night. Once the mask is fit to your liking, just remove the headgear this way and you will keep your fit! The headgear is meant to be washed frequently, but will need replacing every 6 months or the elastic will over stretch causing you to continuosly over tighten the straps.

A prescription is NOT NEEDED nor Required when purchasing a Forma™ Stretchgear Headgear! The headgear is made of elastic with velcro straps for easy self fitting of the mask.

Fishers and Paykel Forma™ Full Face Cushions

As mentioned above, the Forma™ Full Face CPAP Mask Cushion will fit below your chin. The cushion is made of FlexiFoam™ and a Silicone Seal. The FlexiFoam™ enhances comfort while the Silicone Seal ensures a proper seal. Due to the oils your face releases, cleaning of the mask and the constant wear and tear your Forma™ Cushions go through, it is recommended that the FlexiFoam™ and Silicone Seal are replaced every 3-6 months. If the cushions are not replaced, you will tend to over tighten the headgear to keep trying to have a good seal and ultimately cause either pain to your face or have a negative effect to your sleep quality. The Forma™ Cushions are meant to appear full in nature and not squished to your face. If the mask cushion is squished to your face, it is more than likely time to replace both your headgear as well as your FlexiFoam™ and Silicone Seal! If proper replacement of supplies does not happen, you could see a major change to your sleep quality.

A prescription IS NOT needed nor required to purchase the FlexiFoam™ and Silicone Seal! The FlexiFoam™ and Silicone Seal contain NO LATEX; therefore a very small percentage of people will be allergic to any material on the mask!
